Opossum in a tree
During the days, I work in a single story office building. I’m fortunate enough to sit in a window cube. The window has many uses: watch people come and go, know when the mail person is here, know when thunderstorms are coming and gives a nice place to stare out when I’m compiling or just need to think. Well, today was a first. Outside the window is a lone tree right next to the walk way and only twenty feet from the parking lot. Since we’re almost in Winter, the tree is bare. Around 9 a.m. someone came over and informed me that the only marsupial outside of Australia had blessed us with its presence in our humble tree. It was nice to have something in the tree to look at. Unfortunately it wasn’t hanging upside down from a tree, unlike all the ‘possums in my daughters’ books. It was just sitting on a branch looking cold and lonely. When we got back from our staff meeting it was gone. No, no one took a picture, but wikipedia makes up for it: Opossum

Those things can be pretty scary if you surprise one. They will hiss and show off their teeth to you.
And wikipedia says they have fingernails? Weird…
